Park-keeper

There was a man who trimmed the trees and
the plants in a public park. He would
stand on a stepladder to reach the tallest
branches.

One day someone left books on a park bench.
The plantlife soon learnt how to read and
began to understand "rights".

Next time the attendant came to trim them
they took his shears and trimmed his arms
off. "Do as you would be done by," they
exclaimed.

The severed limbs fell to
the ground and were left
behind by the keeper in his
flight. Cared for by the
greenery they put down
roots and grew up.
